Meet Martin Coldicott…
Martin trained at The Connaught Hotel under Chef Michel Bourdin (and chef de partie Michel Troisgros).
He consolidated his expertise at Annabel’s Club in Berkeley Square, Brown’s Hotel in Albemarle Street and Maxim’s in Paris.
After spending a year gaining experience in the wine trade, at the ripe old age of 26 he opened Martin’s Restaurant in SW10, to great critical acclaim. He was awarded Best London Newcomer in The Good Food Guide for Martin’s Restaurant. During this time he employed Martin Blunos and Marco Pierre White as sous chefs.
Martin then moved the restaurant to the top end of Baker Street, NW1 where it continued to be rated in The Good Food Guide and The Michelin Guide, which awarded it a ‘red M’. It also received the prestigious Badoit / Decanter Magazine ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award.
Martin bought The Rose & Crown in November 2006, fulfilling a long-term ambition to run a quintessential English pub. He is working on plans, when time allows, to extend facilities, including adding six letting rooms.
In his rare spare time, Martin enjoys supporting his sons Sam and Ben at rugby matches and relaxing with his fiancee, Kate, who also helps with the administration of the pub.
